Arthur’s Seat

Edinburgh Holyrood Park
251m (823ft)

Available in coloured / monochrome / winter

Arthur’s Seat is an iconic extinct ancient volcano which is the highest peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh, Scotland, which form most of Holyrood Park, described by Robert Louis Stevenson as “a hill for magnitude, a mountain in virtue of its bold design”.

It is situated just to the east of the city centre, about 1 mile to the east of Edinburgh Castle.  The hill rises above the city to a height of 251m (823ft), provides excellent panoramic views of the city and beyond, is relatively easy to climb and is popular for hillwalking.

Though it can be climbed from almost any direction, the easiest and simplest ascent is from the east, where a grassy slope rises above Dunsapie Loch.  At the spur of the hill, Salisbury Crags are a series of 150ft cliff faces dominating Edinburgh’s skyline.

There is also a well preserved and large fort dating from around 2000 years ago and the ruins of St Anthony’s Chapel standing on a rocky outcrop high above St Margaret’s Loch.

Arthur’s Seat is cast with acrylic polymer and plaster of Paris giving you a detailed strong sculpture which is then carefully hand painted.

Each sculpture may differ slightly due to being hand painted.
